Developing Literacy Through Drama – CPD Day

Since 2019, Polka’s Write Here Write Now project has supported over 500 children in developing their confidence, storytelling and literacy skills. Last year, teachers reported that 90% of participants became more creative and imaginative with their ideas, 86% showed improvements in their use of language and vocabulary and 85% improved their ability to structure a story or piece of written work.

In this CPD day, we’ll take a look at a range of dramatic tools and techniques that you can use to support the development of literacy skills among EYFS, KS1 and KS2 children. From making early reading enjoyable to encouraging creative writing, there will be a wide range of curriculum linked activities ready to take back to your classroom.

We’ll give you the chance to practice, discuss, and work with other teachers to adapt activities to suit the needs of your pupils, giving you practical skills and knowledge to take back to your classroom.

Led by Del Taylor, Write Here Write Now Project Manager and Practitioner, this day is aimed at teachers in EYFS to Year 6 from both mainstream and alternative settings. All teachers will be provided with an accompanying resource pack. Teachers need only attend one date.

10am – 3.30pm. Please choose from Friday 16 April or Monday 19 April. Both sessions have the same content.
