The Science of Screen Time
How are touchscreens affecting our little ones?
The family science day and interactive presentation that asks the question: How are touchscreens affecting our little ones?
Ten years ago, screen time was limited to TVs and computers. But today it includes smart phones, tablets, laptops and more – making parenting decisions around screens much more confusing. Following Polka’s recent Techtopia festival, The Science of Screen Time explores the impact of touchscreen devices on children’s development.
Polka and researchers from Kings College London and Birkbeck create a space for the whole family to learn about how touchscreen use might affect our sleep, attention and development. You’ll have the chance to discuss your views and experiences about toddlers and touchscreen use with scientists, alongside drop-in activities for all the family including:
- Taking part in the UK’s largest study on children’s touchscreen use
- Interactive games that compare real vs digital play
- Craft corner – emoji bracelets, post box messages, app stickers and much more
Drop in activities will run in two sessions:
10.00 – 12.30
14.00 – 16.30
Suitable for all the family and tickets are FREE
