The list below has some workshop suggestions, but whatever you are studying we will work with you to bring the curriculum to life in a tailor-made workshop. Black History Month
Polka’s enthusiastic and experienced drama practitioners are ready to visit your school to help you celebrate Black History Month 2017, which recognises and celebrates black history, heritage and culture. We have several workshops for Key Stage 1 and 2 including An African Journey, following captivating stories about the history and events of African people and their descendants and Carnival Time, discovering the origins of Notting Hill Carnival and its relevance in today’s society and how isolation produced something vibrant and celebratory.
These workshops based on a Polka production explore the play’s themes and production elements such as music, dance or movement.
The Snow Queen is a story of self-discovery; encouraging children to celebrate their strengths and to face new situations with confidence. Our workshops will explore how to deal with challenges in friendships and will focus on developing empathy, self-esteem and creativity. To book any of our workshops please contact firstname.lastname@example.org / 020 8545 8329.
Workshops Cost: £220 for a quarter day (up to 2 workshops) £320 for a half day (3 workshops) £420 for full day (4 workshops)

Polka practitioners will bring your favourite books to life! Using drama games and techniques to explore characters and themes from the story, students will have the opportunity to explore their favourite characters and themes in their very own classroom.
Play in a Day
Our director visits your class and works with them throughout the day to devise a play. We can focus on a specific theme or aspect of the curriculum and using improvisation, role play and storytelling techniques, use drama to explore other areas of learning. Work as a team to create a piece of theatre that can be performed to peers and teachers at the end of the school day.
Join our professional puppet and prop makers as they deliver workshops exploring either rod puppets, hand puppets, junk puppets, two dimensional puppets or the art of object manipulation. Focusing on a theme or a book you are working on in class, we can work with your group to create their own individual puppets and learn how to bring them to life.
These workshops are for SEN groups and can be adapted to suit your group’s individual needs. Find out about Arts Access, Polka’s free package for SEN schools and groups by contacting our Access Officer, Matthew Crowfoot at email@example.com or 020 8545 8348
