Direct & Play!

Would you like your school to perform an original play on Polka’s Main Stage?

Playhouse is a unique Creative Learning project which brings schools together with Britain’s top playwrights and theatre artists. This project offers the opportunity to recognise and fulfil pupils’ creativity. Your school’s final performance will take place at Polka’s newly renovated venue in July 2023 to an invited audience of family, friends and other schools participating in the project.

The project has a national profile as it is run in venues across the UK including; York Theatre Royal, Plymouth Theatre Royal, Bristol Old Vic, Birmingham Rep and Theatr Iolo.

Teachers from around the country will unite for one weekend to explore ideas with the playwrights, before embarking on the directing process. They will be given advice, support and ideas from professional theatre practitioners throughout, with practical ways of linking drama and creativity into the whole curriculum.
