Jasmine Chiu

Jasmine Chiu Photo

Jasmine is a Hong Kong-Canadian dance artist, actor, maker, and engaged practitioner based in London.

As a performer she’s worked with choreographers such as Wayne McGregor, Akram Khan, and played leading roles in ‘Dragon Spring Phoenix Rise’ a kung fu musical (The Shed NYC), ‘Wild’ (How It Ended/Unicorn Theatre), ‘Out of the Deep Blue’ (Autin Dance Theatre), and ‘Underwater’ a new dance theatre piece for babies and toddlers (Xenia Aidonopoulou & Georgia Tegou).

Jasmine is a puppeteer in ‘My Neighbour Totoro’ (Royal Shakespeare Company/Improbable) at Barbican, and was in the feature film ‘Jurassic World Dominion’.

Jasmine has collaborated with artist Anthea Hamilton on large scale installations ‘The Squash’ (Tate Britain) and ‘Primetime’ (Southbank Centre), and toured with multimedia artist Ulf Langheinrich in ‘Vortex’.

As a maker Jasmine tells stories which explore diasporic identity through close, interdisciplinary collaborations using movement, puppetry, sound, and evocative text. Her solo work ‘At Broken Bridge’ has been performed at Camden People’s Theatre, Pegasus Theatre, and supported by The Place as a Choreodrome Artist.
