Polka Festive Programme for Schools

20th October 2022

Polka Theatre’s festive season is coming up, with a tailored schedule for school audiences. The season will include the return of their heart-warming show  Grandad, Me and Teddy Too, an adventure story that explores family connections and the intricacies of long-distance relationships – a treat for children in Reception and Year One. To entertain ages 5 – 12, Polka will stage its brand-new Christmas comedy Crackers, a hilarious festive family farce in the Main Theatre. Both productions are a perfect festive activity for school audiences in the lead up to Christmas.

With an outdoor and indoor play area, shop and café, there is more to a trip to Polka than the performance. There are also a range of options to enhance your pupils’ exciting theatre experience: a bespoke workshop in your school setting to explore the themes of the productions, use of our interactive sensory space for groups with Special educational needs and disabilities, or a whole Polka Experience Day which includes a show, allocated lunch area and a drama workshop. Any additional learning is supported via a full Teacher Resource Pack full of fun and engaging classroom activities.

Polly Simmonds, Head of Creative Learning, said:

“There is nothing quite as exciting for children as experiencing the magical joy of live theatre and at Polka we have a sensational Christmas Season coming up for school audiences. We don’t offer just a theatre trip, but an all-round enjoyable creative experience for school children and teachers, providing enriching resources that encourage curiosity and spark imagination.”

Polka has also received some fantastic feedback from teachers:

“A HUGE thank you to you and everyone involved in organising and delivering a wonderful day at Polka Theatre. The boys had a great time and were completely immersed.”
