Cast Announced for The Borrowers

Meet the cast who will be bringing Mary Norton’s timeless classic to life on stage this summer!
Arrietty has lived her whole life deep beneath the floorboards, dreaming of the great outdoors. When her father Pod finally brings her upstairs to learn the tricks of borrowing, Arrietty meets a human boy. But their friendship risks everything and the ‘human beans’ soon discover the borrowers’ secret world… it’s time to escape!
Our extraordinary adventure of epic proportions is adapted by award-winning playwright Charles Way and we are delighted to welcome this exciting cast to Polka.
Charlotte Dubery plays Arrietty. She is a theatre maker, performer and puppeteer whose work is motivated by her love of collaborative creation. Since finishing two years of training at École Jacque Lecoq in 2010, she has performed, written, designed and directed theatre work for indoor and outdoor shows across the UK and internationally.
Troy Glasgow plays The Boy. His most recent credits include Low Dat (Birmingham Rep), There’s Only One Wayne Matthews (Sheffield Crucible), Babygirl/DNA/The Miracle (The National Theatre), Harper Regan (The National Theatre). He also starred in Benedict Andrews’ A Streetcar Named Desire at the Young Vic, which transferred to St Ann’s Warehouse in Brooklyn.
Amanda Gordon plays Homily. She trained at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Her recent theatre credits include Philip Pullman’s Grimm Tales (The Bargehouse, Southbank); Will Harvey’s
War (Cheltenham Everyman); The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui (Chichester Festival Theatre/ West End); Privates on Parade (Michael Grandage Company, West End).
Will Howard plays Spiller/Crampfurl. Will Howard trained at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. After graduating, he joined the BBC’s Radio Drama Company and has since performed in over 100 Radio Plays for the BBC and also plays Dan in The Archers. When Will was growing up his Mum would read The Borrowers to him and his brothers before they went to bed.
Emma Keele plays Mrs Driver. She is the founding member of Reduced Circumstances, a theatre company committed to nurturing talent and developing new work. her recent theatre credits include Abigail’s Party (40th Anniversary Production, UK No.1 Tour) Yen (Gothenburg English Studio Theatre), April in Paris (UK No.1 tour), September in the Rain (UK No.1 Tour), Damage (Rich Mix), Phaedra’s Love (Arcola Theatre).
Phil Yarrow plays Pod. He has appeared in many Polka productions including How to Hide a Lion; Happy Harry’s Café; Gorilla; Wind in the Willows and Charlie & Lola’s Extremely New Play. He’ll be appearing in The Dumping Ground on CBBC, in the autumn of 2017.
